LIAG-Seminar: A Novel Grain-Contact Modelling Approach for Enhanced Petro-Elastic Simulations in Digital Rock Physics Applications

Speaker: Matthias Halisch

Time: 11:00 Uhr

Based on high-resolution μCT imaging and mineralogical calibration, we introduce a new contact-based stiffness correction to simulate realistic Vp/Vs values in CO₂-exposed reservoir samples. Combined with reactive transport simulations (RTS) and cement dissolution analysis, the study demonstrates how porosity, permeability, and elastic properties can be quantified and linked to field-relevant monitoring and storage performance – using reference rocks and samples from a real CCS candidate site.

Participation is possible on site in the large meeting room of GEOZENTRUM Hannover (“Großer Sitzungssaal”) or Online via the following Webex-Linkhttps://liag.webex.com/liag/j.php?MTID=m66ed948cd47b9e6ef8b8a656ec3938ea

The talk will be presented in English.
