LIAG-Seminar: Experimental behavior of reservoir rocks under cyclic conditions in hydrogen storage systems

Speaker: Marco Fazio

Time: 11:00 Uhr

How do reservoir rocks behaves at depth when hydrogen is cyclically injected in and withdraw from these rocks? As part of the TEN.efzn project, we are trying to answer this question by performing triaxial experiments at representative pressure and temperature conditions. By using water as pore fluid, we investigate the variation of hydraulic and mechanical properties of a porous and permeable sandstone (both intact and fractured) subjected to diverse conditions of cyclic loading and cyclic pressurization. Our results show a good correlation between sample compaction and the number of cycles while permeability seems unaffected by the cycles.

Participation is possible on site in the large meeting room of GEOZENTRUM Hannover (“Großer Sitzungssaal”) or Online via the following Webex-Linkhttps://liag.webex.com/liag/j.php?MTID=m66ed948cd47b9e6ef8b8a656ec3938ea

The talk will be presented in English.
